Thank you so much for your message. We truly appreciate you visiting our forums and sharing your feelings. This is Christy from the Support team and hopefully I can help dispel some of the confusion regarding the "via Hootsuite tag".
In order to keep all communication straightforward and easy to track of I will address your issues in the same order you have expressed your concerns. You will see your quotes in italics and my response will immediately follow.
1. It's not a "requirement" by Facebook to have Hootsuite shown as a third party. How do I know this? Because your competition doesn't do it...
Unfortunately, we can't speak to our competitors, but it is built into Facebook's API. While conducting a quick google search I do see that Buffer does also include this tag on posts that go out to Facebook Profiles as well. The article I looked at was updated on November 27th, 2017 and was explaining using the same messaging we are.
2. Second of all, to just tell someone "Only Admins can see it" is basically a lie.
Some social media language can be confusing. What our advocates are saying is that when a post is published to a Facebook page via Hootsuite, the "via Hootsuite" tag is only visible to the admins of the Facebook page. This helps them to differentiate between posts published through Hootsuite, and those published natively on Facebook. On the contrary, if you post to Facebook profile using Hootsuite you will still see a "via Hootsuite" tag. This is again, due to the Facebook API. You see see the difference here.
3. Telling people it's Facebook's fault when it's actually your attempt to advertise makes you look shady.
We try our hardest to be open with our users. If you were to look into why any third party users can't publish directly to Instagram, you will find in our messaging and help articles, that this is an Instagram API limitation. This is messaging that comes from Facebook and respectively Instagram (Owned by Facebook). We are not blaming them, we are explaining to our users why the "via Hootsuite" tag is there.
I hope that you find these answers helpful. I am sorry that you were not happy with us, but I really do hope that I helped clear up some misunderstandings. We just want to be helpful to our users and all those who have questions regarding the Hootsuite platform.
